In 1913 L.R. Kofahl started as a tinner’s apprentice. Then in 1923 struck out on his own and opened Kofahl Sheet Metal Works. After WWII, L. Edward (Ed), joined his father in the business and started learning the trade. Eventually Ed managed most of the shop fabrication work, while L.R. oversaw the outdoor field work. In 1968 Ed’s son, Lloyd (age 14), started sweeping floors in the shop. Over the next 20 years Lloyd learned outside field work and shop fabrication under his father and grandfather. In 1989, Lloyd Kofahl (3rd Generation) assumed full ownership and management of operations. The company was incorporated in 1990.
